Good to hear about Romano. I guess he wasn't wanted in Bridgeport anymore. |

He along with rhakshanni, dibenidetto, and a few others had no place on the isles and they knew it. They were used as filler in bport until the isles "real prospects" were ready to step in. It's starting now.....bport will be better each year and hopefully the isles follow suit |

How close do you think Kabanov is to cracking the roster? |

Isles after November (lately) is a good thing, but I would rather, as a fan outside the normal viewing area, like to see JT and the others develop. I think a lockout, no matter the length, would hinder what we have already built upon. |

Strome tearing up the OHL and Nino tearing up whatever European league he plays in during the lockout will only help them. |

A lock out of any length helps no one.

If the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County were that concerned about the revenue lost from no hockey games being played at the coliseum there would already be a coliseum plan in place. Or they'd already be in a new building for that matter. |

Sorry to say, but if I thought a lockout would f**k (especially) Hempstead over, I'd almost be looking forward to it. Unfortunately, that isn't the case... |

You can't have legislation enacted to prevent free workers in the entertainment industry from collectively bargaining their compensation. That's unconstitutional. And this lockout is between more than employers and employees. Its also between wealthy, large-market employers and poorer, small market employers. That's a dynamic that was not present at the last lockout.
Everyone should already be able to recognize what's going to happen: Don Fehr is never going to reach an agreement with the owners without allowing a lockout to be imposed for at least a little while. Its not his style. Fehr isn't going to come in here with his reputation and simply roll over and give the owners everything they want without a fight.
There will be a lockout. It won't wipe out the season, both sides know that would be near-fatal to the game in the US. Expect a lockout of about 1-2 months, with games being played by December, the latest, The Winter Classic will go off without a hitch, there will be a condensed schedule, similar to what the NBA had this past season.
The important thing is that whatever agreement is reached, its longer than 4 years so we don't have to go through this crap again so soon. It is also important that this deal level the playing field between small and large market teams somewhat, by eliminating the front-loading option and signing bonus options on contracts. If it takes a couple of months of a lockout to remedy that problem, I'm okay with that. |

Your OK with it, im OK with it, but its certainly going to alienate the on the fence fans. The best thing this league has done was that 24/7 show which in my experience has gotten viewership from non fans. Many people i know who dont follow hockey comment to me on the show. Its great for the game......having a delayed season can only hurt. Its unreal that in 10 years they could not come up with a better solution.

Wow no fighting today you can tell when the kids go back to school. I was thinking this since the Islanders usually start going backwards in November December this migh tbe a good thing for them. We usually start off decently we might jsut be able to sneak in the playoffs. |

So, the way to make sure the Islanders aren't out of it by November is just a matter of starting the season in December!
Any word on Visnovsky? Hearing is today, right? The ruling probably won't be out until 2016 the way this thing's been handled.
Edit -- Also Kasper, just to blow the theory out of the water, the Isles' record in October the last three seasons has been 3-6, 4-7, and 4-9. Wouldn't call that starting off decently! I didn't account for OT losses, so adding in the loser points might make it look a bit better, but it hasn't been that the team only plays bad in Nov. and Dec., it's been that the team was essentially out of playoff contention by then for the last several years. |

Well I am thinking they will get off to a hot start and then tumble but we should be ok to sneak in there. Imagine we win the Cup cause the Islanders timing and dates are out of whack?!! |

You are right my friend but I dont know why I am feeling like this lately I am getting good vibes from this team. If we all play up to our potential this team can beat the best of them. I mean this team never has a problem against Detroit? I think with the veteran goaltender a little tougher and bigger defense we should be ok. There is still Time for Snow to screw up more with veterans who need a team but if he stays away from the Rolstons of the world we might be ok. If not oh well Ia m used to losing so no big deal. That is what the Giants are for - kasperrko
I hear what you're saying but the 5th year of a rebuild should not be the same as year 1. If the isles do not make the playoffs this year, while they are better off in terms of prospects, the on ice product (which sells tickets) will be a failure, which in turn will make the management a failure. I've seen this team do well, and be bottom of the barrell.........but i've never felt the way i do now. Like anything else in life, you get what you put in..........unfortunately the isles ownership will not/cannot put into this team. I have a very hard time believing the results will be any different. |

Yes, but at some point, all of these prospects had some value. When former draft picks walk away from the organization, all the money & time spent training & developing them just evaporates. This will be Garth's next excuse...."Era, so many prawspects have bolted the awganization, we NOW, don't have the assets to make trades to make aw team betta."
Garth defenders.....your rebuttal.....
